Hear a new performing edition for piano and orchestraIt was billed as an epic battle of the hands: In 1837, six piano-composer heavyweights – including Liszt, Chopin, and Czerny – were invited to spin their own variations on a theme by Bellini into a single piece called “Hexameron.” But unforeseen events – egos, perhaps – prevented the supergroup from meeting for their debut performance.
